The Free College Benefit

The Free College Benefit makes it possible for you and your family members to earn an associate degree – for FREE.

IBEW Local 246 is proud to announce the Free College Benefit for all IBEW Local 246 members and their families. Yes, that’s right it’s available to you, your spouse, your children, including dependents and your grandchildren. As you know, IBEW Local 246 has always supported education for our members. This new initiative affords us the opportunity to provide it to our family members, as well.

We have partnered with Eastern Gateway Community College to offer this excellent opportunity. Eastern Gateway Community College is a public, non-profit, regionally accredited school that offers working men and women a path towards obtaining an Associate’s Degree in a variety of available programs.

All course work can either be done on-line or on campus. The IBEW Local 246 Free College Benefit combines Pell, federal grants with employer reimbursement, then covers any remaining costs for your tuition, fees and online books. All students must complete the federal financial aid application, but even if you are not eligible for any federal or employer grants, there is absolutely no cost to the member and you will never be asked to take out any loans.

With the Free College Benefit, you and your family members can earn an associate degree online from a public, accredited community college – with no out-of-pocket costs to you. This can save you thousands of dollars. And the process is simple.

We encourage you to take advantage of this great benefit.
